Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit more about me. I am a College Park, MD based Web Developer. I began my development career in late 2019 by enrolling in the Actualize Coding Bootcamp. My career path has covered a variety of industries and given me skills and experiences I could have never imagined. An underlying theme in all my job experiences is my love of problem solving, efficiency, and working with others to bring about amazing experiences. I am driven by my passion for knowledge, experimentation, and structure.
Management, design, and creation/fabrication have been common themes on my path to Web Development. I have experience in Event Management, Graphic/Industrial Design, Home Construction and Fabrication. Most recently, I was the Operations Manager for Wanderlust Festivals, which honed my problem solving skill set while building my team management skills. I have quite a few interest and hobbies that keep me occupied outside of learning to code and development. Here are some of my interest.
The idea for this app stems from the journey my wife and I are taking to lead a green and sustainable lifestyle. I wanted to create a site where people looking to do the same thing could check out what others are doing to lead that lifestyle. There are already a lot of blogs and discussion groups out there. I wanted a hybrid of the two where users can share the ways, tips and tricks on their way to Green Goals.
This was a group developed project with fellow graduates of the Actualize Coding Bootcamp. The goal was to get experience with the React library and develop a data visualization application showing national and state specific covid-19 data. This app uses The COVID Tracking Project API to grab the most current data on a daily basis. Data visualizations are implimented via the Chart.js library with access to a variety of graph formats.
GIT_GUD was developed in collaboration with Jess White. This application allows users to signup and read/leave reviews on any number of coding and software development learning resources across the web. The idea for this application came about as a way to make a tool that we as newcomers would have appreciated on our journey into coding and software development.
I was one of 4 lead builders on the build of this 120' geodesic dome for the AWS Intersect Festival in Las Vegas. This is one of the largest free standing geodesic domes in North America.
Over the last 9+ years I have been working in the special events industry. I have worked and been part of over 130 events throughout North America. This photo is from the Wanderlust 108 2 day event at The Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston, MA. Most famously known as the location the Boston Pops is held every July 4th. I was the operations manager for this event and faced quite a few challenges logistically with getting into this venue and building out the event.
As operations manager for Wanderlust Festival, I managed all of the events assets across 6 tractor trailers for 30+ events all throughout North America.
Subaru Winterfest was an event produced by Powdr Adventure Lifestyles. I was one of 3 commercial drivers who drove the equipment and assets across the US to 9 different ski resorts. Once we arrived at a location we set up all the assets and worked to support and operate the event with a variety of staff. This series of events was uniquely challenging in that I was driving a commercial vehicle in winter snow conditions and building out an event on snowpack in most cases.
These are a series of ceramic vases that I designed and fabricated. The original design pieces were carved from modeling foam. A multipart plaster mold was created to pour liquid ceramic slip into. Once the ceramic slip sets up the pieces are removed from the mold, modified and fired to harden the ceramic material. Once the inital firing process happens the pieces can be glazed to add color and go through a final firing process. I created 50-55 unique sets. These are two examples.
This is a custom rock climbing wall I designed for the New York themed area in Universal Studios Orlando. The climing wall needed to blend in with the existing area so as not to look out of place. I was involved in all aspects of the design, fabrication and installation.
This is a custom rock climbing wall that American Rock Climbing created for the Coca-Cola Company. I worked on this project and hired multiple vendors to create components for this build. I also fabricated a large percentage of the steel components on the trailer and climbing wall frame along with working to do the final assembly/build. This was also the first marketing tour I worked on. I drove the climbing wall and worked with the marketing team to activate the wall at numerous locations across the US.
